RT17. "JOHNSON'S / CALISAYA / BITTERS
- BURLINGTON / VT", (Ring# J45), bright yellow olive with
topaz overtones, square, smooth base, 10"H x 2 3/4"W,
applied sloping collar, a mint bottle with some mold seepage
to the left of the embossing. American, C. 1875, an extremely
rare color with only a few known examples.
This beautifully crude Burlington, Vermont Bitters is only the
second example that we have encountered in this stunning shade
of yellow olive. As with the other example in this color, the
piece is not only brightly colored but beautifully crude as well
and it is our best guess that the bottle was blown in Lancaster,
New York. If you are an advanced collector looking to add something
DIFFERENT to the shelf, this is the piece for you!!!!!
