MN1. "C. BRINCKERHOFF'S - HEALTH
RESTORATIVE - NEW YORK - PRICE $1.00", bright olive green,
rectangular with beveled edges, pontil scar, 7 5/16"H x
3 1/8"W x 2 1/8"D, applied sloping collar, mint. American,
1830-1850, scarce.
As is common to bottles blown in the Brinckerhoff's mold, this
fine, early medicine is weakly embossed (though it should be
noted that the embossing is stronger than indicated
) but
the bottle is otherwise PERFECT and the piece remains a far better
than average example of a desirable colored pontil medicine.
The bottle is exceptionally crude and heavy, with swirls of bubbles
cascading throughout the dense olive green glass. The heavily
whittled and "attic fresh" surface is a delight to
the eye, as is the bottle's heavier than normal mouth treatment.
There is NO damage to the piece whatsoever and as shown, there
are two bands of color moving across the embossing that lend
the bottle a "two-tone" appearance. This is truly a
fine example of a bottle collecting "classic" and we
are pleased to offer the piece with our very highest recommendations!
