JSF8. "G. UPP", bright cobalt
blue, cylindrical, iron pontil scar, 7 1/4"H x 2 7/8"D,
applied sloping collar with ring, about mint (minor collar edge
roughness and some light interior haze). American, 1855-1865,
rare.
This rare, "large lettering" variant of the York, PA
George Upp soda water bottle is blown a particularly vivid shade
of deep cobalt blue. The bottle has not been cleaned or altered
in any fashion and the glass retains its original, brilliant
luster.
