EXCEPTIONAL CONNECTICUT PITKIN FLASK - MINT

JNH8. PITKIN-TYPE FLASK, brilliant yellow olive, 36 ribs, ribbed and swirled to the right, pontil scar, pint (6 3/4"H x 4 1/8"W at widest point), sheared and tooled mouth, mint. Probably blown at a Connecticut Glass Works, 1790-1830.

This pristine perfect Pitkin-Type flask was discovered in a New Orleans attic several years ago (how on Earth it got there I do not know but it has never seen regular use, nor has it even been offered publicly) and it is a SUPERIOR example of the wares blown in the early New England glass factories. The flask's wider than normal mouth opening is both unusual and attractive, as is the exceptionally bold "cut your finger" ribbing. The flask has been a fixture in our Pitkin collection but it is now time for this jewel to find a new home. You will NOT find a better example of this type of flask ANYWHERE (unless, of course, it was blue…) and we are pleased to offer this collection-grade beauty with our very highest recommendations!
