JNH24. "LONDON / JOCKEY - CLUBHOUSE
/ GIN" - (MOTIF OF HORSE AND RIDER), bright yellow green,
square, smooth base, 9 7/8"H x 3"W, applied mouth with
original foil neck seal, about mint (light exterior wear and
some scattered interior haze or contents residue). American,
C. 1875, rare.
We have seen quite a few mold and color variations of the London
Jockey Gin bottle over the years but to the best of my recollection,
this is the first example that we have encountered with the backwards
"Ns." And, as shown, this boldly embossed beauty is
blown in an unusual shade of green with a distinct yellow cast.
The bottle is fresh to the market from an old time collection
that has not been seen for nearly thirty years. It is my understanding
that the bottle was discovered in Vermont sometime in the 60s
and tucked aside until just recently. This is truly a great bottle
and an important find!
