BRIGHT
GREEN STODDARD BASE EMBOSSED CONE INK
ITEM SP64. BASE EMBOSSED CONE
INK, bright forest green, pontil scar, 2 ½"H, sheared
and fire polished mouth, about mint. Blown at a Stoddard Glass
Works, Stoddard, NH, C. 1850, rare color.
Inks with these unusual base markings are attributed to Stoddard
(see Plate 9 in the Pappas/Lane book) and though they are not
terribly uncommon, this is the first purely "green"
example I can recall encountering.
