ITEM JP1. CATHEDRAL PICKLE JAR, brilliant bluish aquamarine, square with fancy cathedral arches, sand chip pontil scar, 11 1/4"H x 4"W, crudely applied mouth, mint. Willington Glass Company, West Willington, CT, C. 1850, scarce.

What a pleasure to see this old friend again. Holly and I originally purchased this superb bottle in the mid 90s and in included it in our collection for quite a number of years. It was sold during a downsizing period and having it back leaves me wondering not only why we sold it the first time but we will be selling it again. Blown from a beautifully crude batch of metal, the jar is thinner and more delicate than most, with an abnormally short neck and wider then normal mouth. The bottle is sparkling mint with no damage and loads of presence.
