ITEM CS13. MAMMOTH DIP-MOLDED JAR, clear olive green, square with widely beveled edges, sand chip pontil scar, 13 1/8"H, sheared, expanded and fire polished mouth, mint. Blown in the late 18th or early 19th century, rare. Ex. Charles Gardner and Norman C. Heckler Sr. Collection.

Charlie Gardner loved this jar and he displayed it in his bottle room with great pride. When Skinner's sold the Gardner Collection in 1975 Norm purchased this jar and he displayed it prominently in his Woodstock, CT home for more than thirty years. Charlie always believed this to be a Connecticut made jar and that's certainly possible, although there are those who believe jars of this type were also produced abroad. Whatever its origins, this is a big, beautiful bottle with the best possible provenance
