ITEM CD006. PITKIN-TYPE FLASK,
38 vertical ribs and 36 ribs swirled to the left, clear olive
green, pontil scar, 6 13/16"H, sheared and fire polished
mouth, a mint flask exhibiting some minor wear at the base edge.
Blown at a New England Glass House, 1790-1820, very rare rib
count.
Of the many Pitkin-type flasks we have encountered over the years
this is one of only two examples that was blown with the use
of two differently numbered rib molds. The visual effect of the
two additional vertical ribs is a subtle and appealing departure
from the norm.
