ITEM 9922. MEDICINE BOTTLE, olive
amber with striations of depper color, rectangular with wide
beveled edges, sand chip pontil scar, 6 7/8"H, applied sloping
collar with ring, mint. New England, probably blown at the Coventry
Glass Works, Coventry, CT, 1830-1850, rare. Ex. David Ellis.
This long necked bottle is the
best possible example of a small group of similar bottles believed
to have been blown in Coventry, CT. Not only is this example
absolutely perfect but exceedingly beautiful as well, exhibiting
some wonderful impurities and striations.
