ITEM 9916. MEDICINE BOTTLE, bright forest green, rectangular with beveled edges, tubular pontil scar, 5 7/8"H, applied sloping collar, mint. Blown at the Mount Vernon Glass Works, Vernon, NY, C. 1840, rare. Ex. David Ellis.

This unembossed "Covert's type" medicine bottle is actually less often seen than the lettered examples and of those few I have encountered this is the finest. The bottle has all of the hallmarks of Mount Vernon production, including glass color, glass texture, pontil type and mouth application. The glass is pure green, filled with bubbles and it exhibits a pleasingly whittled surface. There is no damage or wear.

Price: $1500 plus shipping and insurance
