/ BUST OF DEWITT CLINTON / C _ T," (McK# GI-81), clear moss
green with a yellow tone, pontil scar, half pint, sheared and
fire polished mouth, a mint flask exhibiting just a whisper of
wear at the high points. Probably blown at the Coventry Glass
Works, Coventry, CT, C. 1824.
I've always had a soft spot for
corrugated rib Connecticut made flasks and in particular, those
blown in the GI-81 mold. I dare say I fancy myself a connoisseur
of this mold and with that said, I am speaking with full confidence
when I say "this is a GREAT ONE!" It is this example's
strength of impression in the neck area, cut your finger corrugations
and beautifully pale color that make it a truly special flask
and a top of the line specimen of a hard to find Connecticut
