SUPERB LOUISVILLE GII-22 EAGLE - LYRE FLASK WITH ELONGATED NECK

ITEM 9821. EAGLE - LYRE (McK# GII-22), deep aquamarine with numerous black strings and olive yellow striations, pontil scar, pint, sheared and fire polished mouth, about mint (flask may have been very lightly cleaned). Probably blown at the Kentucky Glass Works, Louisville, KY, C. 1855, rare.

It is this wonderful flask's incredibly long neck that makes it a singular example of a very popular and well designed mold. The flask displays as perfect but very careful inspection indicates that it may have been lightly cleaned, though I do not find this to be a distraction in the least (and this from someone who does not like cleaned bottles as a general rule). The mold detailing is superb and the numerous strings of black ash and olive yellow striations in the mouth and neck lend the piece additional character.

Price: $1850 plus shipping and insurance
