TOP SHELF NEW ENGLAND GLASS CO. GIV-27 MASONIC FLASK

ITEM 8930. EAGLE / "NEG / CO" - MASONIC, (McK#GIV-27), greenish aquamarine, pontil scar, pint, sheared and fire polished mouth, about mint (the base has been lightly polished). Blown at the New England Glass Company, Cambridge,MA, 1819-1826.

Notorious for their typically weak embossing, this fine GIV-27 is instead a wonderful example with easily legible lettering and crisp mold definition. The center of the base has been polished for the bottle to stand and because of the heavy wear covering portions of the polished area it would appear that this was done soon after (if not a part of) manufacture.
