GV-6 COVENTRY, CT SUCCESS TO THE RAILROAD FLASK

ITEM 8609. "SUCCESS TO THE RAILROAD" / HORSE AND CART - "SUCCESS TO THE RAILROAD" / HORSE AND CART, (McK# GV-6), olive green, pint, sheared and fire polished mouth, a mint flask with a somewhat weakened impression. Blown at the Coventry Glass Works, Coventry, CT, 1830-1850.

This pretty Coventry railroad is one of a small group of fresh to the market flasks carefully assembled by a Salisbury, VT gentleman in the 80s and early 90s. Each of the flasks in the collection is bright, clean and free of wear or post-manufacture damage. As noted, the impression (most notably the embossed lettering) is somewhat weak but the flask is surprisingly thin walled and as a result, it passes light beautifully.
