ITEM 8239. BLOWN GLASS PITCHER, cobalt blue, cylindrical with simulated neck threading and applied hollow glass handle, pontil scar, 7 ½"H, sheared and tooled mouth with pour spout, mint. Blown at a Pittsburgh District Glass House, 1820-1840, rare size.

This beautifully crafted and perfectly executed lead glass pitcher is the work of a master glassmaking team. Lowell Inness pictures a clear pitcher of nearly identical form on page 94 of "Pittsburgh Glass" and notes that the object's overall shape, neck tooling and construction (most notably the hollow glass handle) are all indicative of Pittsburgh production.
