EXCEPTIONAL 4 3/4" NEW ENGLAND CHESTNUT BOTTLE

ITEM 8130. CHESTNUT BOTTLE, light yellow olive, pontil scar, 4 ¾"H, crudely applied oversized collar, mint. Blown at a New England Glass House, 1790-1820, rare size.

As a whole, chestnut bottles are relatively common but those under 5" in height are scarce as hen's teeth. This spectacular "no-necked" 4 ¾" example is as fine as any of the few miniatures we have owned, exhibiting a crudely applied collar, beautifully squat form and superb glass quality.
