BOTTLE, olive green, octagonal, pontil scar, 4 ¼"H,
sheared and fire polished mouth, a mint bottle in need of a bath
in warm, soapy water. American, probably blown at a Connecticut
Glass House, 1790-1820, rare form, Ex. George S. McKearin Collection.
This spectacular little bottle is the exact piece pictured as
#1 on plate 75 of "American Bottles, Flasks and their Ancestry."
Truly octagonal bottles of the early period are quite rare and
this is the first of its type that we have offered for many years.
