EARLY 19TH CENTURY FOOTED BOWL

ITEM 7800. FOOTED BOWL, clear light green, circular bowl with applied pad foot, pontil scar, 4 ¼"H, flared rim, mint. American, C. 1815, rare form.

Similar in form and design to the famed Winterthur "Bethany (N.J.) bowl," this handsome piece of tableware is quite early, almost certainly dating to the first quarter of the Nineteenth century. Unlike the documented Bethany bowl, there is no evidence that this particular piece ever had a cover, as the rim is remarkably free of wear and the base shows ample signs of use.
