RARE SANDWICH, MA FANCY COLOGNE BOTTLE WITH MATCHING STOPPER

ITEM 7778. FANCY COLOGNE BOTTLE WITH MATCHING PRESSED STOPPER, clear flint glass, square with bulbous neck, pontil scar, 8 3/8" to top of stopper, flared mouth ground for a stopper, bottle is mint, stopper has several chips on its underside. American, probably blown at the Boston and Sandwich Glass Works, Sandwich, MA, 1820-1840, very rare.

Never before have we encountered this bottle with the added details of a factory cut neck and original pressed stopper. Likely blown contemporaneously with the blown three mold decanters of the period, we are of the strong belief that this rare bottle was blown at Sandwich.
