ITEM 7768. SNUFF JAR WITH DEBOSSED "F" ON BASE, bright, clear olive green, rectangular with beveled edges, pontil scar, 4 ¼"H, about mint (some iron-like residue on the base). New England, probably blown at a Stoddard Glass Works, C. 1850. Ex. Bud Lane Jr. Collection.

Those who participated in the last Heckler Sale are by now well acquainted with the name Bud Lane. A second generation collector, the Lane Collection was accumulated over an eighty year period. In addition to an exemplary collection of flasks, the Lanes also accumulated a wonderful group of New England utility bottles, of which this is one. Purely "green" in color, this attractive Stoddard bottle features a very boldly debossed base marking and exhibits loads of pleasing crudity.
