Your Dependable Online Source for Quality Bottles and Flasks

ITEM 7758. FREEBLOWN VASE, clear with opalescent white loopings, ogee shaped bowl with applied knopped stem and circular pad foot, pontil scar, 8 ½"H, hand tooled rim, mint. Blown at a Pittsburgh District Glass House, C. 1840.

This beautifully constructed vase is the work of a master gaffer. Everything about the piece speaks of quality - the loopings are well controlled, the weight is perfectly balanced and the form is exquisite. Attribution to Pittsburgh is based upon the peculiar milky white cast to the glass, the general form/manufacturing technique and the place of the vase's discovery.
