ITEM 7678. FREEBLOWN HAT, orange
amber, cylindrical, pontil scar, 2 3/8"H, inwardly rolled
lip, mint. New England, probably blown at a Stoddard Glass House,
Stoddard, NH, C. 1860.
This early hat exhibits all of the characteristics of Stoddard
glass and it is my sense that it was blown at the Weeks and Gilson
Works around the time of the Civil War.
