ITEM 7660. "BARTINE'S /
LOTION," deep teal blue, tubular pontil scar, 6"H,
crudely applied sloping collar, about mint (clean 1/8" base
edge flake). American, C. 1850, extremely rare color.
Where to begin? This is one of those bottles that seems to have
it all. The color is GORGEOUS, the glass is highly whittled and
the oversized applied top is all that one could ask for in terms
of visual appeal. Tradition attributes this bottle to the Lockport
Glass Works but I have a strong suspicion that it may have been
blown at the Albany Glass Works. The noted flake is truly not
a bother - it is small and clean with no associated bruising
and because of its location it is nearly impossible to see. Truly
a special bottle, this is one any collector would be proud to
own!
