ITEM 7654. PITKIN-TYPE INK, brilliant
yellow, 36 ribs, ribbed and swirled to the left, pontil scar,
1 11/16"H, tooled disc mouth, mint. Blown at a New England
Glass Works, 1790-1820, extremely rare color. Ex. Watt White
and Roger Long Collections.
Simply stated, this is finest color we have encountered in a
Pitkin-type inkwell. Holly and I underbid this beauty in the
Watt White Sale, purchased the piece from the Roger Long Sale,
kept it for a number of years, sold it under duress and have
just now reacquired the piece. It truly is the very best of its
type.
