amethyst, rectangular, smooth base, 7 5/8"H x 2 3/8"W
x 1 5/8"D, hand-tooled double collar, a dug bottle in nearly
perfect condition. American, 1865-1875, a scarce bottle in a
rare color.
Collected in the 1950s by a couple with a superior eye for color,
this truly exceptional Manchester, NH hair bottle has been out
of the bottle collecting mainstream for more than fifty years.
We have had a number of beautiful Tebbetts over the years, including
some in lighter shades but this is in our opinion the prettiest
of them all. There is no damage but careful inspection reveals
some light overall scuffing that leads us to believe that the
bottle was dug(!).
