ITEM 7436. FREEBLOWN FLASK, brilliant
sapphire blue (of the type peculiar to the Lockport Glass Works),
pontil scar, 4 7/16"H, sheared and fire polished mouth,
a mint flask exhibiting the expected usage wear. American, probably
blown at the Lockport Glass Works, Lockport, NY, C. 1855, ex.
George McKearin Collection.
This exquisite little flask retains a portion of McKearin's handwritten
label that would have undoubtedly attributed the flask to Lockport,
NY. Over the years we have seen only one other flask of this
general type, a larger example in emerald green that was also
attributed to Lockport.
