ITEM 7423. COGNAC BOTTLE, golden
olive amber, three piece mold cylinder, pontil scar, 7 7/8"H,
applied sloping collar with ring, mint. Blown at a Stoddard Glass
Works, Stoddard, NH, C. 1850.
This intriguing bottle is one of two found in a Central Massachusetts
attic. Larger than a stubby beer and smaller than a whiskey fifth,
the bottle must not have found favor in the period as it is one
of only a handful known. Undeniably Stoddard, NH in origin, the
bottle exhibits all of the crudity one would expect of a that
region's output.
