SMALL STODDARD, NH DEMIJOHN
ITEM 7419. DEMIJOHN, deep olive
amber, dip mold cylinder, iron pontil scar, 9 3/8"H, applied
sloping collar, about mint (shallow ¼" mouth flake).
Blown at a Stoddard Glass Works, Stoddard, NH, 1842-1850.
This diminutive demijohn exhibits the petal-shaped iron pontil
scar that is reportedly the "mark" of John Foster,
superintendent of Foster's Furnace ("The Box"), the
first Glass House in Stoddard, NH.
