ITEM 7418. DEMIJOHN, brilliant
orange amber with a strong red cast, dip mold cylinder, pontil
scar, 13"H, applied sloping collar, mint. Blown at a Stoddard
Glass Works, Stoddard, NH, C. 1850.
Stoddard made demijohns in this shade of color are typically
blown into a three-piece mold, making this dip mold cylinder
quite the unusual bottle. Though the body of the bottle is primarily
orange, strong red tones are apparent in the neck and the base.
And, as the pictures indicate, the bottle passes light with ease
and exhibits a multitude of seedy bubbles.
