"F. F. & CO (on base)," CLEAR, rectangular with rounded back panel, smooth base, 8 3/4"H, hand-tooled lip, a mint bottle with a mold imperfection of the back panel that is noted solely for accuracy. Having bought, sold and collected Vermont pharmacy bottles for a number of years it is not often we run across something that we have not previously seen but such is the case with this interesting bottle. Unusually large and very boldly embossed, the bottle has the word "Vermont" spelled out in its entirety, not simply the abbreviated VT as is commonly seen. The base embossing is a bit of a mystery in that Toulouse records F F & Co as Fahnestock, Fortune and Co of Pittsburgh, PA with a date of 1866 to 1873 but the bottle would appear to be of the 1890s vintage.
