SCARCE HIGH-SHOULDERED D.A. KNOWLTON QUART

 

ITEM 7180. "D.A. KNOWLTON / SARATOGA / N.Y.," (Tucker #E-5:A), deep olive green, cylindrical, smooth base, high-shouldered quart, applied sloping collar, about mint (tiny mouth flake and an interior open bubble that does not detract visually). Blown at the Saratoga Mountain Glass Works, Mount Pleasant, NY, C. 1860, scarce. Sadly, my photos do not properly capture the beautiful nature of the glass with which this bottle was blown. Though dark, the bottle does pass light and reveals a multitude of seedy bubbles. The bottle retains its original cork and partial contents - it has not been cleaned or altered and it presented exactly as discovered in the tiny mountain hamlet of Ripton, Vermont. SOLD!
