ITEM 7031. CATHEDRAL PICKLE BOTTLE, deep aquamarine, hexagonal with indented panels and cross-hatching, early smooth base, 14 ½"H, applied collar, about mint (tiny flake on the inner mouth edge). American, C. 1865, rare.

This impressively sized pickle is one that is only rarely encountered. There is some question as to whether or not the bottle is pontiled but I have played it safe and catalogued the piece as smooth based. The brilliance of glass, depth of color and strength of embossing work in unison to create an object of undeniable beauty.
