ITEM 7019. "10 MINUTE PAIN DESTROYER / CHAS. E. MONELL CO. / 2 & 4 FIRST AVE. NY - WT & CO / USA (on base) WITH ORIGINAL GLASS STOPPER," bright yellow amber, square, smooth base, 4 7/8" to top of stopper, hand tooled mouth ground for stopper, about mint (tiny open bubble on a panel edge). Blown at the Whitall Tatum Glass Works, Millville, NJ, C. 1885, rare.

This unusual medicine bottle is one of very few that we have seen with a mouth ground for a stopper. Because of the production costs involved, glass stoppers were typically found only on "fancier" bottles made for the table or dresser. The bottle is one of a small group of intriguing medicine bottles we recently purchased from an old time collection and it is one of only two examples I have encountered over the years.
