ITEM 6990. PATTERN MOLDED CREAMER,
cobalt blue, 20 diamonds, pear-shaped with applied solid glass
handle, pontil scar, 4"H, sheared and tooled mouth with
pour spout, mint. American or English, 1780 or 1800.
At one time all creamers of this type were catalogued as Stiegel
but current scholarship shows that similar objects were made
contemporaneously in England. For whatever reason, there now
exists the perception that ALL of these creamers were made in
England but that's simply not the case, as they were in fact
also blown on our own shores. And, no matter which side of the
ocean they were made, these are beautiful 18th century objects
with undeniable eye appeal.
