BRILLIANT SAPPHIRE BLUE BLOWN THREE MOLD HAT

ITEM 6969. BLOWN THREE MOLD HAT, (similar to McK# GIII-4), brilliant sapphire blue, cylindrical with dramatically tapering sides, pontil scar, 2 ½"H, inwardly rolled mouth, mint. American, 1820-1840, scarce. Similar to but not an exact match to the GIII-4 listed in McKearin's charts (differing in the numbers of horizontal ribs both above and below the sunburst band) this superb blown three mold hat exhibits especially intense color and the boldest possible mold impression. SOLD!
