FLARED LIP MIDWESTERN PINCH FLASK C. 1830 - RARE FORM!

ITEM 6840. FREEBLOWN "PINCH" FLASK, strong bluish aquamarine, pontil scar, 6 ½"H, flared mouth, about mint (expected usage wear and a skin deep open bubble at the base edge). Midwestern, probably blown at an Ohio Glass House, 1820-1840, very rare.

Constructed in a manner so as to be easily grasped, this attractive, early flask was most likely blown at an Ohio Glass House. Similar mouth treatments can be found on Plate 235 of McKearin's "American Glass and a similar pinch treatment can be found in plate 237. Another flask of this type is listed as lot number 162 in the noted Midwestern flask collection of Bill Pollard (Heckler 3/16/96).
