ITEM 6749. DIP MOLDED TUMBLER,
golden amber, ten-sided, pontil scar, 3 3/4"H, sheared and
fire polished mouth, mint. Blown at a South Jersey Glass House,
C. 1840. ex. George McKearin and Dr. Gary Johnson.
Obviously blown to emulate the high-style flint pressed glass
tumblers made in Pittsburgh, this Jersey made piece is instead
made from ordinary bottle glass and created in a dip mold. The
piece is unique to my knowledge and it retains McKearin's original
(though now illegible) labels. Last owned by the late Dr. Gary
Johnson, it is my understanding that the tumbler was purchased
at one of the famed McKearin Pennypacker Sales in the early 1960s.
