Rhea Mansfield Knittle pictures a similar pan (fig. 26) in her 1932 Antiques Magazine article "Bowls & Pans" that she attributes to the Monogahela Region and dates to the first quarter of the Nineteenth century. It is also possible that this pan is earlier yet and the product of a 18th century Mid-Atlantic Glass House such as Wistarburgh or Amelung. In either event, this is an early and unusual piece of American Glass imbued with folksy charm. SOLD! |
