ITEM 6617. LABELED "ROCHELLE
MIXTURE / PREPARED BY / THOMAS HOLLIS / BOSTON," aquamarine
window glass, dip-mold cylinder, pontil scar, 4 ¾"H,
outwardly folded mouth, mint. American, probably blown at a Western
New York State Glass House, C. 1850.
Although sporting a period Boston label, it is probable that
this beautiful and unusual bottle was blown in Western York State,
as the weight, color and quality of the glass is consistent with
the output of that region. Whatever its origins, this is NOT
a typical bottle glass cylinder but rather a sturdier, higher
quality bottle blown from the best window glass of the period.
