ITEM 6578. BLOWN THREE MOLD PITCHER, (McK# GV-17), clear flint glass, blown in a decanter mold with an applied, hollow glass handle, pontil scar, 8 ¼"H, sheared and tooled mouth with pour spout, as blown with a well-camouflaged crack behind the lower handle attachment. American, 1820-1840, rare.

The GV-17 is a collecting classic that has long been near the top of the glass enthusiast's "most wanted list." Over the years a scant few have come to market and like this example, most all have some damage behind the lower handle attachment. In this instance the damage can be seen primarily by looking inside the pitcher, as it is well-hidden by the complexities of the mold and the handle itself. As a result, the piece displays as perfect, exhibiting a particularly graceful handle and a perfectly formed neck and mouth.
