ITEM 6487. LABELED "LIPPINCOTT
& CO. - PHILADELPHIA" MASTER INK, brilliant peachy apricot,
three-piece mold cylinder, smooth base, 9 5/8"H, applied
sloping collar with ring and tooled pour spout, a mint bottle
retaining some content residue. American, probably blown at a
Baltimore Glass House, C. 1860, rare.
Although it retains a good portion of an original Philadelphia
ink label, it is my best guess that this bottle was in fact blown
at a nearby Baltimore area glass house. The color is absolutely
outstanding and better than my photos would indicate. In keeping
with my personal promise to sell bottles just as I have found
them I have not attempted to clean the content residue but it
could be done in a jiffy with a little care to protect the label.
Master ink bottles in this color range are RARE and th9is example
is made all the more unusual by the survival of the original
label.
