BARN FOUND NEW ENGLAND CHESTNUT FLASK

ITEM 6337. CHESTNUT BOTTLE, light yellow olive, pontil scar, 5 3/8"H, crudely applied mouth, a mint bottle with some extra glass and silica adhered to one side at the base edge. Blown at a New England Glass Works, 1790-1820.

Next time I will look more closely. After writing off a barn floor filled with boxes of bottles as "junk" my friend Phil bought the lot and promptly produced this pretty little chestnut flask from a box at the bottom of the pile. The noted extra glass is not damage but rather an interesting condition of manufacture and as shown, the bottle is prettier than most with good color, lots of bubbles and great form. Better yet, it was sold to me "right" and so it shall be offered again. Discounted to less than $300, this is a piece you can't afford not to buy!
