ITEM 6188. BLOWN GLASS HAT WHIMSEY,
deep "Congressville" green, cylindrical, pontil scar,
5 ¼" at the widest point, tooled rim, mint. American,
probably blown at the Congressville Glass Works, Saratoga, New
York, C. 1870, rare.
Blown with the aid of a dip mold, this generously sized hat was
constructed using the same metal as one would find in a Saratoga
Mineral water bottle. It is most likely that Morris Holmes was
the gaffer responsible for making this attractive piece of Early
American Glass.
