MOLD HAT OR SALT, (McK# GIII-23), intense cobalt blue, pontil
scar, 2 3/8"H, inwardly rolled rim, a mint hat with a nearly
imperceptible rough spot in the inner rim edge. Blown at the
Boston and Sandwich Glass Company, Sandwich, MA, 1820-1840, scarce.
Ex. Dr. and Mrs. Hollander Collection, exhibited at the Sandwich
Glass Museum.
It is this hat's intensity of color, extraordinary mold impression
and superior form that make it a must have for the serious collector
of blown three mold or Sandwich Glass.
