ITEM 6005. FREEBLOWN BOWL, deep
aquamarine, cylindrical, tubular pontil scar, 5 1/16"H and
6 ¾"D at the widest point, outwardly folded rim,
bean sized open bubble on the rim. American, probably blown at
a Western New York State Glass Works, 1830-1850.
Exhibiting all the qualities that one would associate with Redford
or Redwood Glass, this soulful bowl is a delightfully small example
with perfect form and loads of character. Blown from a heavy
gather of coarse bottle glass, the bowl exhibits plenty of usage
wear that attests to its utility in a 19th century kitchen.
