SUPERB 36 RIBS CT PITKIN -TYPE FLASK - LIGHT YELLOW OLIVE

ITEM 5790. PITKIN-TYPE FLASK, light olive yellow, 36 ribs ribbed and swirled to the right, pontil scar, 5 ½"H, sheared and tooled mouth, mint. New England, probably blown at a Connecticut Glass Works, 1790-1820. Bright, clean and free of wear, this unusual Pitkin flask offers an interesting juxtaposition in that is obviously finely made but at the same time quite crude, with several unmelted grains of sand making it a singular example of the glassblower's art.
