ITEM 5744. CUT AND ENGRAVED COMPOTE,
clear flint glass, circular bowl with hollow baluster stem and
applied circular foot, polished pontil scar, 7 7/8"H x 8"D,
mint. American, possibly blown at a Pittsburgh District Glass
House, 1820-1840.
Well cut and masterfully constructed, one could easily make the
case that this fine footed bowl is Pittsburgh in origin. In any
case, it is American and quite a lovely piece of period tableware.
