ITEM 5703. FREEBLOWN TRUMPET
VASE, purple amethyst, trumpet-shaped bowl with applied circular
foot, pontil scar, 9 7/8"H, sheared and tooled rim, mint.
American, probably blown at the New England Glass Co., South
Boston, Massachusetts, C. 1840.
Gracefully formed yet featuring a pleasantly thick, heavy applied
foot, this well-proportioned vase is almost certainly a product
of the New England Glass Company. Larger and "gutsier"
than others of its type, the vase is blown in a brilliant shade
of purple amethyst flint glass.
