RARE THREE-PIECE MOLD UTILITY JAR - EX. DEERFIELD MUSEUM

ITEM 5609. UTILITY JAR, deep olive amber, three-piece mold cylinder, sand-chip pontil scar, 8 ½"H, crudely applied mouth, mint. American or English, 1820-1840, rare. A Deerfield (Mass.) Museum deaccession, this beautiful 19th century jar was created using a whiskey bottle mold to define the general form. The mouth was then tooled and manipulated into the jar form and the resulting piece is a beautiful example of early utilitarian glassware. SOLD!
